BY Robert L. Huffstutter................

.Anyone who has been addicted to alcohol knows how easy it becomes to work for a few weeks and save enough money to check into a cheap hotel for several weeks without interruption by anyone or anything including the maids or the telephone. There was a time when an alcoholic could board a train or bus that was heading in the direction of one's choice. The only baggage one of this nature had was the grip in hand, a kind of suitcase that was easy to keep at hand, secure between one's boots. Back then, $25 would take one whom some called a "rolling stone" to either coast from Chicago or Kansas City. And when the bus arrived, there would be a hotel one could afford only a few steps away from the bus station. No credit cards or IDs to present then, just cash. So, after checking in and taking the last swig of the Seagram's Seven, one would take a brisk walk through the lobby and turn either way to the nearest liquor store. Money was the only thing that was the alcoholic's security and self-esteem, all else made no difference. The thoughts of those left in the last city were forgotten with the first drink of a fresh bottle. Tired from the miles and suffering the usual anxiety that builds up in the transient alky's neck and shoulders, the first few drinks makes the sound of the buzzing neon sign outside the window seem like home, like many homes where the residence was temporary and forgotten except the memories of doing nothing but relaxing more and more after each drink and bottle. Keeping the empty bottles in the drawer kept the alky from the reality of one episode after another.
HUFFSTUTTER'S PHOTO ESSAYShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08750128729340189564noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8990544622670458760.post-26714559561432955192013-07-03T05:57:00.001-07:002013-07-03T05:57:59.477-07:00WHO REMEMBERS PASSPORT INN IN MANHATTAN BEACH

WHO REMEMBERS PASSPORT INN IN MANHATTAN BEACH, a photo by roberthuffstutter on Flickr.

HUFFSTUTTER'S PHOTO ESSAYShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08750128729340189564noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8990544622670458760.post-29682387010273183292011-11-07T11:39:00.001-08:002011-11-07T11:39:55.701-08:00Franklin Roosevelt, 1913

Franklin Roosevelt, 1913, a photo by John McNab on Flickr.

Age 31, a New York state senator.

Eight years before the polio, twenty years before the White House.

"If anything happened to that man, I couldn't stand it. What is this world coming too?

One might compare this image with photos of the homeless in USA subways and other areas. I think the entire issue boils down to "freedom to sleep where one can find a place" and there are most likely laws against sleeping in subways that are enforced in China.

One can look at this issue in several ways; either a society has regulations about where people can congregate and lay around in public places and spaces, or a society has no restrictions, thus letting whomever wants to camp out in public places, litter, urinate and deficate throughout the area, making the area unhealthy, unsafe and a site that shows there are no provisions made for the homeless.

Part of this can simply be defined by "character." To summarize, Beijing officials do not want "characters" hangin' out in the public subways. I get the picture clearly. And I support regulations that are enforced to keep public spaces such as subway stations free of a transient population that becomes a public nuisance.

Parks, in my opinion, should be free space for those who need sleeping and and camping space. The ideal solution, of course, would be for the government to build homes for those who are homeless, thus reducing the homeless problem to zero. Yes, a zero tolerance for homelessness. This, of course, would require more money from the Federal budget. This, then should become another entitlement issue, another partisan issue. In the meantime, one homeless man, or perhaps one "sleepy" man is taking time out in a Beijing subway.
_____________________________________________________

Homeless in Beijing subway
I saw this young buddy in a subway tunnel in Beijing under the Tiananmen square.

Uploaded by milkanen on 28 Oct 07, 11.46AM PST.
HUFFSTUTTER'S PHOTO ESSAYShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08750128729340189564noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8990544622670458760.post-89346914541948993612010-12-31T03:38:00.001-08:002010-12-31T03:38:49.892-08:00PETS-MBWA 87 - 30 August 2009

PETS-MBWA 87 - 30 August 2009
Originally uploaded by jamel07
HE IS A MAN WHO KNOWS ABOUT TRAMS AND SUCH. I noticed you took it back in March of 2008. To be quite honest, I am surprised it was still standing. But if you took the photo, you should know.

There's a long story that goes along with this old home. Before I give away too many details, I need to know if you happened to see anyone with metal detectors in the area. Did you see any fresh holes where people had been digging.

If you saw signs of digging, etc, they were probably digging a drain for the water that floods the road in heavy rains.

If you still have the details on this location, I might suggest that you go there ASAP with your metal detectors. According to the old legend, there was a shipment of gold that was headed for the mint. The old stage road that is now the closest State highway, was once called the Federal Road because it led directly to the mint.

Anyway, the old James gang, not the one in Missouri, but the cousin of the notorious Frank James, rented a general store not too far from here and knew the schedule of the loads, etc. Anyway, as the story goes, he had made arrangements with the State militia who were supposed to be escorting the load (four wagons full of gold nuggets and ore).

Do you still have your map?

Desert house
I've always wondered what the stories behind these abandoned houses are

Uploaded by franvisions on 10 Jul 08, 10.47AM PST.

If you will kindly send me the map, I will go check on this and let you know if what I suspect might be true. There is no need for you all to go on what would most likely be a wild goose chase.

Just draw me a map ASAP on a sheet of paper and send it FLICKER E MAIL. We are born in a "bubble" of the space/time continuum where we see the physical substance around us as a "constant" and Time we see as "streaming by" - But time doesn't quite exist as we perceive it.
There is a realm, a dimension that exists, where our "physical substance" can be perceived as a "ghostly flow" and time is encompassed as a whole.
God would exist in such a dimension: "I am alpha and omega" the beginning and the end.
Keeping in mind that Matter can not be created nor destroyed; neither can Space or Time be destroyed. It can be crumpled to near nothingness, expanded and bent, perhaps even changed, but it can not be destroyed. Nor can Time and Space be separated, or understood separately from the other; because, as Einstein theorized, Time and Space are two aspects of the very same thing.
There's more to Time than just the "here-and-now"... indeed, there are particles of truth to the final lyrics of the song: "In The Year 2525 (Exordium and Terminus)" by Zager and Evens:

"Through the eternal night,
The twinkling of starlight,
So very far away...
Maybe it's only yesterday."

- Richard Loyal French
"The Paradox of the Time/Space Continuum
or
What is the Reality of "TIME"?"

Uploaded by Richard Loyal French on 7 May 09, 12.25AM PDT.
_____________________________________________________

Richard, you have opened up a Pandora's box for the type of subject matter only a few of us enjoy examining in detail and theory. Your perception on time and space are much more complex than the comments you made, thus an extensive exchange of ideas and information about this subject should be an interesting and joyful experience...as time goes by.

Let me begin by stating that since we are energy and energy cannot be destroyed but can be converted to different states, I am hoping that once this energy in my body is changed from flesh, it will be transitioned into the energy that will allow me to see what is really in the space we can only begin to glimpse through super telescopes.
HUFFSTUTTER'S PHOTO ESSAYShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08750128729340189564noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8990544622670458760.post-59726158874402403672010-06-22T12:45:00.001-07:002010-06-22T12:45:53.856-07:00Virtual Women 4

Virtual Women 4
Originally uploaded by RichKD
Virtual Women 4

Uploaded by RichKD on 25 Dec 08, 5.16PM PDT
HUFFSTUTTER'S PHOTO ESSAYShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08750128729340189564noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8990544622670458760.post-91079664999633191812010-04-06T08:55:00.001-07:002010-04-06T08:55:14.464-07:00Indianapolis Rail

Indianapolis Rail
Originally uploaded by mheidelberger2000
Indianapolis Rail
Cars loaded with coke on the Near eastside, Indianapolis, IN...

This shot is featured in my Indianapolis oriented blog:
The Heidelberger Papers

Uploaded by mheidelberger2000 on 12 Feb 09, 5.52PM PDT.
HUFFSTUTTER'S PHOTO ESSAYShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08750128729340189564noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8990544622670458760.post-77431639708113623722010-03-26T10:02:00.001-07:002010-03-26T10:02:12.902-07:00Immigration Reform

Immigration Reform
Originally uploaded by greenelent
A NEW GALLERY INSPIRED BY GREENELENT'S PHOTOSTREAM. I AM VERY SUPPORTIVE OF CITIZENSHIP FOR IMMIGRANTS WHO ARE GOING TO BE PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS. I HAVE MET VERY FEW IMMIGRANTS WHO WERE NOT ADMIRABLE IN ALL THEIR AMBITIONS, VALUES AND GOALS TO LEAD A GREAT AND FREE LIFE IN THE USA. I ALSO BELIEVE IN A SEMI-BI-LINGUAL SOCIETY IN THAT ALL U.S. SCHOOLS SHOULD BEGIN A SPANISH / ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROGRAM FOR ALL SCHOOLS K THROUGH 12 TO MAKE COMMUNICATIONS A PART OF THE IMMIGRATION. WHERE THERE IS COMMUNICATION THERE IS HARMONY. IT IS MY GOAL TO SEE THAT THIS CURRICULA BECOMES A STANDARD FORMAT IN ALL U. S. PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND I WOULD APPRECIATE SUPPORT FROM ALL WHO BELIEVE IN THIS CAUSE. HAVING BEEN TO MEXICO MANY TIMES, I LEARNED TO SPEACH VERY BASIC SPANISH; I LEARNED ABOUT THE HISPANIC STANDARDS AND VALUES, A LIFESTYLE OF SINCERE PEOPLE WHO ARE ALWAYS KIND AND UNDERSTANDING TO AMERICANS VISITING. I AM CONCERNED THAT THOSE WHO ARE OF A CRIMINAL MIND NEVER REACH THE U.S. BUT THIS IS AN ISSUE OF ANOTHER NATURE, NOT ONE THAT I AM INVOLVED IN. SO, CONSIDER ME A SUPPORTER OF IMMIGRATION REFORM IN MOST ALL OF ITS ASPECTS. YES, I HAVE MUCH TO LEARN, BUT I KNOW THAT NEW IMMIGRANTS WILL MAKE THIS NATION EVEN GREATER THAN IT IS NOW AND MAY HELP US WITH THE ILLS WE ARE SUFFERING AT THIS TIME.
HUFFSTUTTER'S PHOTO ESSAYShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08750128729340189564noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8990544622670458760.post-11380888934961363882010-02-06T07:38:00.001-08:002010-02-06T07:38:58.676-08:00^uk^ Anna, Adriana and Alessandra, what a view

^uk^ Anna, Adriana and Alessandra, what a view
Originally uploaded by unclekuntz
WHAT A GROUP OF PRETTY YOUNG LADIES..........OH, MY.....
^uk^ Anna, Adriana and Alessandra, what a view

Uploaded by unclekuntz on 20 Nov 06, 5.44PM PST.
HUFFSTUTTER'S PHOTO ESSAYShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08750128729340189564noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8990544622670458760.post-83900222153864121272010-01-26T19:19:00.001-08:002010-01-26T19:19:48.188-08:007up

7up, originally uploaded by richSS2006.

you like it and it likes you................who recalls that slogan?
